Hi, I'm Istvan.
I'm a documentary wedding photographer based in Budapest, Hungary. Over the past ten years I've photographed nearly 200 weddings: across Hungary, Scotland, Italy, Greece and beyond. I lived in Scotland for 18 years, so yes, I speak English fluently. Different countries, different traditions - but the way I work hasn't changed. Documentary photography isn't a trend for me; it's how I see.
Philosophy
My passion for photography is fed by a genuine curiosity about people. I'm drawn to the honest and the human.
For me, photography is not about creating spectacle. It's about observation.
Taking seriously, accepting and preserving what is actually happening. The way you are present in each other's lives. The way you live the day.
Style
Instead of directing, I leave space. I work quietly, from the background. I watch, wait, move. I look for moments when people forget I'm there — and forget themselves too. I'm not intrusive, but I'm not passive either. I hunt for situations, for real connections.
The result
When you feel comfortable, the pictures become natural too. My aim is images that are good to look at because you recognise yourselves in them — the ease, the lightness, even the humour. Precisely because that's the intention behind them.
A few words about me
I like simple things. Hiking in mountains, reading good books, drinking good coffee, playing tennis, being outdoors. I'm a minimalist — not many things around me.
If this sounds like the kind of photography you've been looking for, I'd love to hear about your day.
